British-born forward Keith Rendleman has been in dominant form over the past few weeks, recording double-doubles in each of his last four games.
Rendleman’s hot streak started with 23 points and 12 rebounds against in-state rivals UNC-Greensboro. He shot 8-12 from the field and 7-13 at the line in that game.
It’s included games of 18 points and 11 rebounds, 13 & 14, and 14 points and a career-high 21 boards against Towson. Rendleman has also been making his presence felt on the defensive end with three blocks in each of UNC-Wilmington’s last two games.
Alasdair Fraser has also been dominant inside lately, propelling Maine to four straight wins, including their first two conference matchups. He’s averaging 17.3 points on 62% shooting in those four games, and has been able to stay out of foul trouble, allowing him to play more minutes for the Black Bears than earlier in the season. His best games were against Florida Gulf Coast, where he put up 21 points, and Quinnipac, where he notched a double-double with 14 points and 11 boards.
Charleston have also been rolling recently, winning five straight behind excellent play from Andrew Lawrence. The GB guard is averaging 16 points and 4.2 steals in those games while shooting 46% from behind the arc. He scored 21 points against Vermont and 22 against Marist, and grabbed five steals against Old Dominion.
Ashley Hamilton continues to put points on the board for Loyola Marymount, even if his shooting has been erratic recently. The 6-7 forward has scored at least 14 points in LMU’s last four games, including 20 against Morgan State. Despite Hamilton’s efforts, the Lions started out conference play with two losses this week.
Will Neighbour had probably his strongest game of the year recently, putting up 17 points and 14 rebounds against Louisiana-Lafayette. The junior forward also scored 11 against South Alabama and 14 against Troy in recent weeks.
Fahro Alihodzic may be stepping into a bigger role with UAB. The 6-10 centre played a season-high 33 minutes against Georgia Southern, scoring 12 points, and followed it up with 10 points in 27 minutes against Dayton.
Ben Mockford closed out 2012 nicely with 15 points in a win over NJIT, but has struggled in the New Year, scoring three and five points in St Francis’ last two games.
