Melo Celebrates Jordan Melo M9 at New Flagship House of Hoops Foot Locker

New York Knicks star Carmelo Anthony celebrated the launch of his Jordan Melo M9 sneaker with Londoners last week at the opening of the new flagship House of Hoops Foot Locker store at 283 Oxford Street.

With the Melo M9 having been released just over a month ago, and House of Hoops’ brand new flagship store opening in one of the UK’s most iconic shopping locations, the two teamed up for an evening that included a Q & A with fans.

With Carmelo Anthony’s passion for high-end watches and love of armored superhero suits at the centre of its unique design inspiration, the Jordan Melo M9 is the lighest Melo sneaker to date.

“I’m a big watch fan, I love the movement in watches, you see all the technicalities and that’s what I wanted to incorporate” Melo said, speaking in front of a gathering of fans in the store.

“We just had to translate that into shoe form, plus I’m from Brooklyn, on the side of the shoe we tried to make it look like the Brooklyn Bridge, those were two of the things we wanted to do.”Meanwhile, Foot Locker has announced a huge focus on basketball products in the coming month – four straight weeks of premium product releases between the 2nd February and the 2nd March.

The products released during the ‘Approved Heat’ campaign will include over 200 items, over 70 of which are sneakers.

Melo, who has been a Jordan brand athlete for a decade now, also spoke of his love for London.

“There’s a lot of energy in London, I was here in the summer and that’s one thing, it’s full of energy here. It’s a lot like New York City, you feel the energy, the people walking around and you feel the vibe.

“New York is like a dream come true,” the two-time Olympic champion continued. “I’m playing in the best city in the world and in the best arena in the world. I think we’re doing the right job about it too, getting on top of our conference and our division. Just being in New York, there’s no better place.

“The fan base is great in New York too, even more so when you’re winning, it’s really great.”

Anthony has received plaudits from across the league for his strong play this season.

“Just to be named in MVP talks is always good because it means you’re doing something right. Winning is the cure for a lot of things and when you’re winning, good things happen.”
