Ashley Hamilton has been easily the most impressive British player in college basketball in the last couple of weeks.
The GB forward scored 19 points, including a perfect 7-7 from the free throw line, and grabbed nine rebounds as Loyola Marymount defeated Portland State. He followed that with a career-high 24 points in an overtime win over Northern Arizona. Hamilton made eight of his 11 field goals in the latter game, and is an incredible 7-9 on three-pointers in his last three games.
Power forwards Ali Fraser and Keith Rendleman have also been impressive, putting up near-double-doubles in several games. Rendleman had six points and seven rebounds in a loss to Georgia Tech, followed by 20 points and nine rebounds against Davidson.
Maine suffered heavy losses in their last three games, but Fraser has been doing his bit, averaging 8.6 points and 9.3 rebounds in those contests.
Fahro Alihodzic appears to be finding his feet at UAB. He put up 10 points in 15 minutes against Middle Tennessee, then followed that up with a career high 17 against South Alabama. Despite only scoring six points in UAB’s most recent game, he’s averaging over 10 a game in around 20 minutes.
Ben Mockford averaged 10 points a game over the past two weeks, including an 18-point outing against Albany where he went 6-12 from beyond the arc, but it wasn’t enough to prevent his St Francis team from losing all four of their games.
Will Neighbour continues to provide solid all-around play for UALR, averaging 7.3 points, 5.3 rebounds and two assists over their last three games.
But it was a fortnight to forget for Andrew Lawrence, as the GB guard struggled against No. 5 Louisville, scoring just three points as Charleston were comfortably dispatched. Lawrence sat out the Cougars’ only other game, an exhibition contest against Division II Anderson, with an injury.
