After a successful 2010/11 season at Bridgton Academy, a prep school in Maine, being ranked top 100 in the US at his position and having been touted as one of the top talents in the UK for a number of years before, Ryan Martin (1991 born) disappeared off the radar last season. Despite receiving interest from a number of NCAA Division 1 schools, Martin was ruled ineligible due to his academics.
Understandably, it was a huge blow for Ryan who then spent a year in the gym alone, honing his game and working on his skills, not playing a second of competitive ball all season.
It’d be easy to assume he dropped off, but showing up at The Pro Classic this summer, it became immediately apparant that the former Hackney White Heat and Westminster Warrior player has, if anything, got better.
His talent hasn’t gone unnoticed by JUCO South Plains College who have snapped him up for the coming season….they are the defending national champions, going 36-0 last season and will be looking to do the same again this year.
Check out some of the best highlights we’ve caught on tape of Ryan over the past 2 years. At 6’8″, the former England U18 & GB U20 has range out to the three, can handle the ball, has decent vision and can get above the rim…this one is loooong overdue!
