Team Northumbria finished their season in style on Sunday, beating London Westside 101-51 behind a dominant performance from Kevin Wollbrinck at the Amaechi Centre, Manchester.

Wollbrinck finished with a triple double of 19 points (7/9 shooting), 14 rebounds, and 10 assists, whilst also adding 6 steals to take home the MVP, as Northumbria put on a clinic at both ends of the floor.

Siman Stewart added 28 points on 12/16 shooting for the team from the North, whilst Jamie Glen added 9 points, 6 rebounds, 8 assists and 3 blocks. Ola Ogidan, who was averaging just under 17 points on the season, was held to 11 points on 4/13 shooting for Westside.

Notes

  • In the first half in particular, Northumbria played some of the best basketball I have seen all season. Firing on all cylinders, the ball movement was awesome.
  • Wollbrinck’s offensive rebounding was huge. Westside couldn’t keep him off the glass.
  • Northumbria’s Ivan Emanuely, their leading scorer on the season, left the game just 3 minutes in with an ankle injury.
  • Play of the game goes to Justin Hitchman for a two handed bang out down the lane.
