National Cup Semi Finals Set

The final four of the National Cup is set after the quarter finals took place this weekend and there is one surprise team still standing.

Division 3 side Newham (NASSA) Neptunes find themselves in the semi-finals after beating Derby Trailblazers 86-79 on Sunday. Led by Ladi Brown’s 21 points and 20 from Jeffrey Danchie, Newham knocked out their third consecutive Division 1 side, with Medway Park Crusaders and Brixton Topcats the other teams that have been on the wrong side of their fairytale run.

They will now face Bristol Academy Flyers on December 11th in their semi-final, after Bristol beat Hemel Storm 59-46.

Elsewhere, BA London Leopards scored a 20 point victory over Bradford Dragons, 86-66 (after losing to them 110-77 the day before in league play!). Leopards were led by Vernon Teel’s 18 points, 11 rebound, 13 assist triple double, whilst Ousman Krubally added a 29 point-11 rebound double double.

Trying to stop the Leopards making the final will be Tees Valley Mohawks, who booked their place in the semi after beating Reading Rockets 87-82 (who they lost to 92-56 the day before!). Demarcus Berry had 21 points and David Glavan had 16 and 6 assists to lead  the Mohawks.

The semi-finals are now set for December 11th and are as follows:

Men’s National Cup Semi Finals

Tees Valley Mohawks vs BA London Leopards (at University of Teeside)
Bristol Academy Flyers vs Newham (NASSA) Neptunes (at Wise Campus, Bristol College)

Are you surprise to still see NASSA going strong? Who do you expect to make the finals?
