Great Britain’s Devon van Oostrum (1993 born) has been loaned out by Caja Laboral to LEB gold side Tarragona for the coming season.
The 6’3″ point guard, who has just recently returned from Eurobasket where he was the second youngest player in the tournament, will be loaned out for the season to the Catalonia based side in Spain’s second division, where it is hoped he will gain more valuable experience playing at a higher level than would be available at Baskonia.
Last season he suited up Caja Laboral men’s second team which compete in Spain’s fifth division, as well as the under-18 side (which he dominated). He averaged 13.1 points, 7.1 rebounds, 5 assists and 1.4 steals per game this summer with the GB U20s (being three years younger than the competition) before getting a call up to the senior men’s squad where he showed flashes of his potential including being the team’s youngest ever leading scorer against Nigeria in a warm-up where he had 18 points. Arrangements have been made for DVO to be able to continue his education whilst on loan.
