England U16s Beat Georgia, Move to 3-0

England Under-16s moved to 3-0 at the 2011 Division B European Championships on Saturday afternoon, with a 69-58 victory over Georgia.

England were led by 16 points from Luke Nelson, Tamas Okros added 12, whilst Tyrell Isaacs finished with 11 points, 6 rebounds, 3 assists and 6 steals. Kingsley Okoroh had 6 points and 8 rebounds, and Mo Soluade continued to showcase his all around game with 4 points, 7 rebounds, 7 assists and 2 steals.

Head coach Simon Fisher said:

“We’ve put ourselves in a position to qualify for the top eight with a professional performance against a dogged Georgia team. I was pleased with the team ethic, the ball movement was excellent, and scything apart the zone defence that Georgia employed.

“I was also pleased with the resolve the players showed in intense conditions to withstand the Georgian comeback, and close out the game in a controlled manner. We are now one step away from the overall goal of the first week, qualification into the top 8. The players are ready for the test that Luxembourg will give us, but I am confident that we can respond to that and progress.”
