Great Britain international Nick George has come out of retirement – and ended his year-long spell out of the game – by signing for Italian Lega Due side Casale.
The Manchester-born forward stunned the sport last summer when he announced that he was quitting at the age of 27, despite being included in the GB squad.
Following several months back in his hometown, George emerged from exile on Tuesday to re-sign with his former club for the final month of the season.
In a frank interview in the May issue of MVP Magazine, he admitted that it was stress which forced him to call a time-out on his successful career.
George could now make a belated bid for a call-up into the Great Britain team for next summer’s Olympic Games by helping Casale in the Italian end of season play-offs.
“I’m really happy to be coming back to basketball, feeling refreshed,” he said.
