Meagan Hoffman and Jo Clayden have been called into Great Britain’s initial squad for this summer’s Eurobasket women’s finals after two withdrawals ahead of the start of the training camp.
With several injury doubts already hovering among the 16-strong squad named by coach Tom Maher last month, Mairi Buchan has become the first to fall.
The promising Scottish forward, already recovering from a stress fracture in her foot which forced her to redshirt this year at Old Dominion University, has undergone a medical assessment and has been advised to rest.
She has been joined at the exit door by Sheffield Hatters' Sarah Naylor who has pulled out due to what team officials are describing as “a change in her availability” for the finals.

Hoffman and Clayden, who were both part of the GB squad in last summer’s EuroBasket qualifiers, will now link up with their team-mates when camp opens in Surrey on Monday.
Maher is already without Janeya Wade-Fray, who is due to undergo knee surgery shortly after rupturing an ACL at practice, and Sarah McKay who remains in rehabilitation from her knee operation.
