Move over Tinker Hatfield – MVP’s creative director Jake Green is getting his design on…
Last week, I was invited to the iD studio at NikeTown to design a special pair of MVP trainers. Out of all the Nike bball performance sneakers available at the studio, I went for the Kobe 5’s. MVP meets MVP once again.
With the help of Nike iD specialist Tigger, we went through the process of picking the fabric and full colour scheme for our one-off exclusive. I went for an understated, classic look – but with a little flair…taking inspiration from the limited edition Jay-Z Air Force Ones I saw at the World Basketball Festival in New York.
Obviously the Kobe 5 is built for bball performance – but I reckon our “MVPs” will look pretty sweet off court too. The shoes will take 4-5 weeks to be produced and delivered. Let us know what you think.
Also invited down to the iD studio were Mersey Tigers head coach Tony Garbelotto and Great Britain captain Drew Sullivan. Drew also went for a Kobe 5 – and customised it combining his Tigers shirt number and daughters’ birthdays. He said he reckons his design will raise a few eyebrows with his team mates in training!
Drew also picked his favourite iD from a range of designs produced by the public in a recent Nike competition – which will now be made and sent to the lucky winner.
