GB forward Pops Mensah-Bonsu has secured himself a roster spot with the New Orleans Hornets for the 2010/2011 NBA season.
Yesterday he was named to the Hornets’ opening night roster, meaning his contract is now guaranteed for the season-rumoured to be worth around £500,000.
Mensah-Bonsu averaged 4.6 ppg and 5.0 rpg with the team during the pre-season, including dropping 19 and 10 on Memphis on October 18th. He will officially start his career as a Hornet tonight as they take on the Milwaukee Bucks at home.
That puts 4 “Brits” (used in the loosest sense of the word) on NBA rosters this coming season-Pops joins Luol Deng of the Chicago Bulls, Ben Gordon of the Detroit Pistons and Kelenna Azubuike of the New York Knicks (who is yet to get his British passport).
