Young British prospect and GB U20 baller Myles Hesson (1990 born) fractured his ankle last night in just his fifth game of the BBL season with the Essex Pirates. After playing just 8 minutes Hesson landed on one of the opposing team’s players’ feet whilst landing from a rebound attempt, adding injury to insult of the 93-44 rout Worcester ended up serving to Essex.
Twenty year old Rookie Hesson has been the surprise of the season for Essex and the BBL, averaging 14.5 points, 5 rebounds, 2.5 steals 1.2 blocks through his four games with the Pirates (3 of which have been Trophy games), including exploding for 25 points, 9 rebounds and 4 steals against the Milton Keynes Lions on October 2nd.
Known for his athleticism, the news will comes as a big blow for Essex, the team who have already been struggling competitively, failing to register a win in 5 attempts. Hesson is expected to be out for at least 7 weeks.
