Glasgow Rocks suffered a blow when Great Britain international Kieron Achara quit after just one game to join Italian Lega B side Barcellona.
The Stirling-born forward, who was on a week-to-week contract with the Kelvin Hall outfit, admitted he’d received an offer he couldn’t refuse from the Sicilian side.
“I’m excited to go back to Italy because even though it’s the second division, it means I’ll have a major role and have the chance to develop my game,†Achara said.
“It’s going to make me into a better player and that will stand me in good stead for GB next summer. But it’s still disappointing to leave the Rocks. They’ve been great team-mates and I’m sad it only lasted one game.â€
Hugh Barnett’s raw potential will have to be realised elsewhere with the London-born rookie released after he failed to impress Davis after arriving in the summer out of university in Arkansas.
“We decided he couldn’t help us at this point,†the Rocks boss admitted.
“He’s a good player but he needs time and work and that something we can’t accommodate right now.â€
