The GB Senior Men held on for a 66-64 victory over Hungary yesterday to remain perfect and atop of Group B with a 5-0 record in their Eurobasket 2011 qualifiers.
Chris Finch’s side didn’t make things easy for themselves after shooting a paltry 46.9% (15/32) from the line and letting a 15 point halftime lead slip. But a win is a win, and Great Britain currently remain the only undefeated side in the competition.
It was Luol Deng who once again saved the day for GB, making a game saving block (video) with 30 seconds remaining that effectively sealed the victory.
Pops Mensah-Bonsu had another monster double double with 15 points and 17 rebounds, Nate Reinking led all GB scorers with 17 whilst Luol Deng added 13, 4 rebounds, 4 assists and 3 blocks. Full box score and play by play available here.
