England Senior Men Lose Opener in Ireland

England Senior Men lost their Ireland tour opener, going down 73-55 to the Melbourne Tigers after a fourth quarter meltdown.

Coach Paul James remained optimistic despite the disappointment:

“Our lack of execution down the stretch was extremely disappointing against a very big and physical Melbourne Tigers team. But yet again we know we are capable of competing at a high level for major parts of the game. We now need to develop mental toughness and discipline down the stretch and I’m sure we can turn these losses into wins.”

All ten of England’s roster managed to get on the scoresheet. Ben Eaves led all England scorers with 12 points, Taner Adu added nine, David Watts and Andrew Thomson scored eight apiece whilst Stefan Gill, a new addition to the roster, added five.
