The GB U20’s went 2-1 this weekend, finishing 2nd in the four team tournament they entered in Denmark as they prepare for their European Championship campaign this summer.

On Friday, they went down 68-56 to eventual winners Sweden who are favourites in their group to get promoted to Division A this summer. Ryan Martin led all GB scorers with 12 points, whilst Ovie Soko backed him up with 11.

Saturday saw GB take on Norway, routing them by 20, 76-56. Alex Marcotullio led all scorers with 21 points, with Will Neighbour adding 17, Andrew Lawrence 11 and Ovie Soko 9.

The U20’s completed the weekend by destroying the hosts Denmark, securing a 75-49 victory. Will Neighbour topped a balanced GB scoresheet with 16 points, with Marcotullio, Raheem May-Thompson and Myles Hesson each adding nine points.

Head Coach Tim Lewis was pleased after the game, seeing his team finish their five warm-up games with a 3-2 record;

“There was a scrappy start to the game but once we were into our rhythm we played some of our better basketball of the summer so far.”

“Collectively we were better in transition and executed well in the half court when needed. We were able to get everyone into the action and take a good look at players that have had less court time to date. A great way to finish the tournament and this stage of our preparation.

The team head back to the UK for their inal phase of preparation before leaving for Austria and the Division B European Championships on July 12th.
