The GB U20’s secured a 21 point victory in their final game of the first round of the FIBA European Division B Championships yesterday, taking down Belgium 73-52. The win meant a second place finish in Group C, advancing to play Norway later today in qualifying group F.

Head Coach Tim Lewis was pleased with his team’s performance:

“We played really well and it was a great team performance. We played some stifling defence, and kept them to 12 or less points in three of the quarters, while creating some good looks at the other end.

“There no stand-out individual performances, but the whole team did exactly what they were asked to do, and I’m very pleased.”

Andrew Lawrence once again led all scorers with 16, whilst Ovie Soko had a double double with 14 points and 10 rebounds. There was a number of nice all around efforts including Will Neighbour (8 points, 10 rebounds, 4 assists, 2 steals and 3 blocks), Nigel Van Oostrum (5 points, 3 rebounds, 4 assists and 1 steal) and Myles Hesson (9 points, 5 rebounds, 1 assist and 2 steals).

Today’s game has a 15:45 tip off.
