England will host the Home Nations 3×3 Basketball Qualification Event for the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games at the National Basketball Performance Centre in Manchester.
FIBA 3×3 and Commonwealth Sport confirmed that Team England, Commonwealth Games England and Basketball England will stage the men’s and women’s qualification tournament on 22-23 May 2026.
England, Isle of Man, Northern Ireland and Wales will compete across both competitions, with each tournament played in a round-robin format before the top two teams meet in a final.
The winner of each final will secure a place in the men’s and women’s 3×3 competitions at Glasgow 2026.
Scotland have already qualified as hosts, alongside Fiji, Nigeria, Singapore, Cayman Islands, Jamaica, New Zealand, Australia, Malaysia and Guyana in the men’s competition.
In the women’s competition, Scotland are already joined by Fiji, Kenya, Uganda, Singapore, Cayman Islands, Jamaica, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea and Tonga.
Basketball England 3×3 Development Manager Meehra Gorasia said the event would be a major step in England’s Commonwealth Games campaign.
“We’re thrilled to be hosts of the 3×3 Home Nations Qualifier,” Gorasia said.
“This is a huge milestone on the calendar for this year’s Commonwealth Games basketball programme and under the lights at the NBPC, fans will be treated to a taste of what’s to come this summer.
“The event will be electric and pay homage to the 3×3 culture that exists between the home nations – with high-tempo basketball action, music and vibes – as two teams rise above the rest to stamp their ticket to Glasgow and fight for the medals.
“If Team England want to be able to defend their men’s title and the women retain their silver or go one better from Birmingham, then this is their first real test.”
The Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games run from 23 July to 2 August, with the 3×3 Basketball and 3×3 Wheelchair Basketball tournaments taking place at the Scottish Exhibition Campus from 24-29 July.
