Barking Abbey’s Obinna Ekufu has become the latest British player selected to play in the Euroleague Adidas Next Generation Tournament.

He will be suiting up in the second qualifying tournament in Munich, Germany from January 17 to 19, 2025.

In its 23rd edition, featuring a new name and logo, adidas NextGen EuroLeague continues to strengthen its connection to the Euroleague Basketball ecosystem and highlight its status as the premier platform that brings together the continent’s top young talents, serving as a natural pathway for future pan-European stars.

The full roster that will be joining Obinna on the adidas NextGen Munich select squad is as follows:

Guillermo Del Pino (Spain)
Soren Bracq (France)
Felipe Minzer (Argentina)
Reino Saivosalmi (Finland)
Ricards Aizpurs (Latvia)
Sten Adamson (Estonia)
Obinna Ekufu (Great Britain)
Dorian Rinaldo Komlan (France)
Arminas Vilkas (Lithuania)
Alfonso Rodriguez (Spain)
Mathias Vazquez (Brazil)
Dimitrios Ntapsis (Greece)

Danilo Barthel, retired Euroleague player and former member of the German national U18 and U20 teams, will join the NextGen Munich coaching staff alongside Dogus Balbay and Ozan Havuzlu.

“I’m excited to help develop the next wave of basketball stars here in Munich. This competition offers an incredible opportunity for these young players to display their potential, and I’m proud to be part of this journey as their sideline support, especially in my home country of Germany,” said Barthel.

Ekufu follows on from Emmanuel Ahamefule last year, who was the first British selection.
