Coaches for BBL & WBBL All-Star games revealed

Petar Bozic BBL All-Star game Lions

The British Basketball League has announced Gareth Murray, Petar Bozic, Vanessa Ellis and Stella Kaltisdou as the BBL and WBBL All-Star game coaches, respectively, for the exhibitions next month.

The Head Coaches for each team were selected based on the top performing coaches in the North and South, based on current Championship standing position, in both the Men’s and Women’s British Basketball League.

Caledonia Gladiators’ Gareth Murray will head up the North and Lions’ Petar Bozic the South in the men’s All-Star game, while Sheffield Hatters’ Ellis and Lions’ Kaltisdou will help the North and South respectively in the women’s game.

The long awaited return of the Men’s and inaugural Women’s All-Star Game heads to London’s Copper Box Arena on Sunday March 17th.

North vs South will collide as players from across the League showcase a festival of basketball entertainment to what is expected to be a capacity crowd in the capital.

Petar Božić, London Lions Men’s and Men’s All-Star South team Head Coach, said:

“I’m very happy and honoured to receive this invitation,” Petar Bozic said.

“It’s not just for me but for everyone behind me helping me to be in this spot, all the players, coaching staff and everybody who works for London Lions.

“Both ends are very talented, both ends we have players who are very athletic and make it very fun for everybody who watches basketball. The fact it’s been a while since the All-Star Game has been played and this will be the first one (in a while) so it emphasises the importance of this game. It’s a real basketball holiday and all the players on the court and everyone off the court should enjoy!”

Fans still have time to pick their All-Star starting five for both the Men’s and Women’s teams for North and South by visiting the All-Star voting webpage. After the starting fives are confirmed, the Head Coaches will pick from the remaining players across the Men’s and Women’s League’s respectively, with each club being represented within the North and South rosters.

“It’s really exciting to be selected as the coach for the North All-Star team and coaching in the League’s first-ever Women’s All-Star Game,” Vanessa Ellis added.

“There is a lot of great talent amongst the North teams and I’m looking forward to being at the Copper Box on March 17 to be part of a great event with the roster.

“The voting to select the starters has been great to follow so far and with the reserves I’ll be selecting next month, we’ll be looking to put a team together that can bring a win back home to the North with us.”
