London Lions opened their 2023-24 EuroCup campaign with a 76-69 win against Umana Reyer Venezia, Wednesday evening, at home at the Copper Box Arena.
New coach Petar Bozic had a positive start as he looks to build upon his side’s historic run from last year.
Donte Grantham led the Lions with 23 points and 7 rebounds in his first-ever EuroCup game, helping his team overcome a double-digit deficit to get the win.
Gabe Olaseni added 10 points to his team’s tally and played an important role in crunch time.
With Sam Dekker’s continued absence, Grantham stepped up and delivered an impressive performance.
“I have to credit my teammates finding me,” he said after the game. “I just have been aggressive from the start. It was my first game and I just wanted to set the tone.
“This allows me get confidence. I am a guy that does everything, and I just try to impact the game in different ways.”

Amedeo Tessitori led his team in scoring with 16 points, he also added 6 rebounds and 3 assists.
Marco Spissu and Aamir Simms each had 10 points for Reyer.
The next EuroCup game for the Lions will be against Veolla Towers Hamburg on October 10th in Germany.
