TVC win big to advance as Hoopsfix Pro-Am semi-finals are confirmed

The semi-finals at the 2023 Hoopsfix Pro-Am are now confirmed after unbeaten Ankd joined Hoopspace in winning their groups, while Thames Valley Cavaliers and Glacier Boys also advanced.

Ankd made it three wins from three by beating London United 50-42 in Pool B with TVC upsetting Vet Status with an impressive 79-58 triumph. In Pool A, Hoopspace suffered their first loss in a 53-58 loss to OT Boyz, while Glacier Boys defeated Surrey Scorchers 79-50 in the battle for second spot.

Week 3 opened up with Ankd securing their spot in the last four with an eight-point victory over London United behind 15 points from Bradley Kaboza.

Glacier Boys came out on top against Surrey Scorchers in the straight shootout for a place in the semi-finals as they were paced by their trio of GB internationals. Akwasi Yeboah top scored with 17 points along with eight boards with Kayne Henry adding 16 points and Amin Adamu contributing 13 points and six rebounds.

The Scorchers had Jamell Anderson making a Pro-Am debut and he would finish with a team-high 16 points in the loss with Evan Walshe scoring 13.

Meanwhile, TVC then bounced back from successive defeats to make the semi-finals in style with an emphatic 21-point triumph over Vet Status. Last season’s NBL D1 MVP Aaryn Rai – who is BBL bound with Cheshire Phoenix – produced a big performance with 24 points, 12 rebounds and three assists to lead the way.

The short-handed Vet Status had a 22-point outing from Joe Junior Mvuezolo as they missed out on a top two spot as a result of the three-way tie that also included London United. TVC needed to win by at least six points to clinch the runners-up spot in Pool B and they used a 24-10 final period to cement their place.

Sunday’s action was rounded out by a first win for OT Boyz as they ended the unbeaten start of Pool A winners Hoopspace. Ebuka Ekwegh and Luke Busumbru combined for 31 points in the win
