Team Emerald and Team Ruby both picked up wins to open up the Women’s Hoopsfix Pro-Am on Sunday at Brixton Rec.
Chantel Charles shone in the opener, going 8-of-13 from the floor for 22 points along with five rebounds and two assists in just 20 minutes to lead Emerald to a 70-57 win over Diamond – who had battled back from 15 down in the first half to take a lead.
Jess Davies added 10 points, along with Kyla Nelson – fresh out of retirement – who added 10 of her own. Beth Sarson led Diamond, knocking down five three-pointers for her 15 points, with Shequila Joseph boosting the squad with nine points after a late arrival.
In the other game, it was Team Ruby who prevailed with a 44-40 win over Sapphire, behind 13 points, four rebounds, two assists and four steals from Commonwealth Games silver medalist Shanice Beckford-Norton, and 11 from GB-capped point guard Renee Busch.

Team Sapphire somehow kept it close despite shooting 21% from the field, led by the young duo of Hoopsfix All-Star Classic MVP Fats Janneh and NCAA Division 1 athlete Molly Lavin, who had nine points each.
