Shenley Brook End completed a perfect season with a 98-91 win over Bracknell & Wokingham College to claim the 2023 CBL title on Wednesday in Manchester.
Captain William Issekya picked up MVP honours with a 25 point, 3 rebound, 5 assist outing, going 9-of-14 from the field, as the side from Milton Keynes led by as many as 20 in the first half off the back of a blistering start from three-point range.
Shenley Brook opened the game 7-of-7 from three, as Bracknell had no answers as their problems were exacerbated by an 0-of-9 start from range.
“Today was really special,” Shenley Brook Head Coach Billy Beddow told Hoopsfix.
“Last year we started this basketball academy and didn’t manage to make the playoffs, today we won them in front of 100+ supporting students and parents. We have a group of players who are from Milton Keynes and surrounding areas, some of which have been at this school since Year 7, others who changed schools just for the hope of achieving something like this.
“The team prepared and executed on our scout against a Bracknell team who have scored in bunches all season long. After such an incredible day, we now turn our attention to U18 and Mens playoffs to try and do this all again.”
Robertas Barkauskas added 16 for the victors, and Eric Arriaga had 14 points, 7 rebounds and 11 assists.
Shenley finish the season a perfect 15-0.
Bracknell were led by 27 points from Myers Amoo-Gottfried, and 22 points, 8 rebounds and 8 assists from Gabriel Romero-Sanz.
