Sesan Russell has broken the Florida Tech all-time assist record after a season that has seen him complete the regular season as the assist leader in NCAA Division II.
The former Charnwood guard earned All-SSC honours for the second time in his career after being named First Team All-SSC in the 2020-21 season, and hit 442 assists in his career on Thursday night to set the program-best mark.
“What an incredible achievement for Sesan capping off a stellar career with Florida Tech,” Florida Tech Head Coach Billy Mims – who used to coach in the BBL – tweeted.
“Surely a future member of the Florida Tech @FT_Athletics Hall of Fame!! Well done Ses. You will definitely be missed!!”
In 24 games played in the regular season, Russell averaged 18.9 points per game and was No. 1 in Division-II with 7.2 assists per game.

In the post-season the Panthers’ upset bid of undefeated no. 1 Nova fell short in Overtime, bringing Florida Tech’s post season run to an end in the SSC semi-finals.
Alongside Russell is fellow Brit Niall Harris, also in his Senior year, averaging 11.1 points, 7.4 rebounds, and 3.3 assists per game.
The Panthers will now wait and see if it makes the cut for the NCAA Tournament. The selection show is scheduled for Sunday, March 5 at 11 p.m.
Russell becomes the second Brit to break a school all-time mark this season, after Jubrile Belo took the all-time blocks record at Montana State University in February.
