London Lions were unable to protect home court with a 75-82 defeat to Dinamo Sassari on Thursday evening at the Copper Box Arena.
A late attempt at a comeback fell short as Lions dropped to 3-3 in Group J.
Joyner Holmes flirted with a triple double as she had 18 points, 11 rebounds and 8 assists to lead six Dinamo Sassari players in double figures.
Kat Snytsina led London with 19 points, Holly Winterburn had 13 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists, while Kiki Herbert-Harrigan added 12.
A hot shooting start saw both teams trade basket in the early stages. A tough and-1 basket off some beautiful footwork from Holly Winterburn gave Lions an 18-16 advantage with 2 minutes to play in the first before a swift Sassari response tied it back up.
Shanice Beckford-Norton beat the first quarter buzzer with a fast break lay up as the two teams went into the break tied at 20.
The Italians asserted themselves in the second quarter from beyond the arc to open up an 11 point lead.
Lions responded with a 9-0 run of their own turning defence into offence with back to back steals from Kiki Herbert-Harrigan and Winterburn. Sassari would go into the halftime break with a 45-40 lead.
The third quarter saw Sassari open the period on a 5-0 run to gain a double-digit cushion that would be enough to fend off London the rest of the way.
