MURRAY GEARED FOR SYSTEM REBOOT

Gareth Murray reckons Great Britain can get their World Cup qualifying bid off to a flyer on Friday in Leicester even though it’s a step into the unknown.

The clash with Greece will be a first game in charge for Glasgow Rocks coach Tony Garbelotto with a handful of potential debutants in the mix.

But with the fixture marking the start of a new but controversial international schedule that’s left NBA and Euroleague stars frozen out, Murray admits it’s felt like all change during the build-up this week.

“There are a lot of ifs but nine of the 12 from EuroBasket in September are in camp so there is a bit of continuity,” the Scots forward said.

“We’ve got that 10-day window but it’s a new format: international windows, home and away games. A new coach. A first British coach involved.

“It’s going to be different from the last five years. But we need to win our home games if we want to move onto the next round.”

It is understood Gabe Olaseni, GB’s stand-out performer at EuroBasket 2017, has been deemed unfit to play in the opener but Dan Clark is set to feature despite a hand injury.

Garbelotto is not obliged to name a final 12 until Friday evening.
