Great Britain Under-16 Updated Training Squad Announced
Following on from the first Great Britain Under-16 selection training camps this weekend at the National Basketball Performance Centre in Manchester, Head Coach James Vear has selected a squad of seventeen players to take forward.
Fifteen of the seventeen players are from England, with Christopher Feeney and Lewis McGlasson representing Scotland.
Kareem Queeley, along with Mate Okros and Theo Hughes are the three holdovers from last summer’s England Under-16 squad, as the 17 players will be vying to make the final 12 to compete at the Division B European Championships in Sofia, Bulgaria from 10-19 August.
“It was a very proud moment for all the staff and players to be part of the inaugural GB Under-16 squad,” Vear said.
“We had a very productive weekend where we got to evaluate the players further, we also got across to them some of our key concepts and areas we need to improve going into the next camp. This group are extremely coachable and have worked really hard the entire weekend.”
Great Britain are in Group D with Kosovo, Georgia, Luxembourg, Macedonia and Portugal.
