USA were given a test on the seventh day in Rio, while France and Australia strolled to victories.
Here’s a brief recap on what went down on Day 7:
China v Australia
Australia won every quarter on their way to a comprehensive 93-68 win against China with six players in double figures with minutes spread across the roster. Cameron Bairstow led with 17 points and nine rebounds, while Broke Motum added 15 points in an all-round convincing display. China were led by Jianlian Yi’s 20 points, but they are now without a win in their four games so far.
USA v Serbia
USA survived another scare in Rio before holding off a valiant fightback effort from Serbia to win 94-91. Nikola Jokic had a game-high 25 points, while Miroslav Raduljica and Milos Teodosic scored 18 points apiece with Bogdan Bogdanovic missing a 3-pointer late in the game which could have forced overtime. The US were led by Kyrie Irving’s 15 points as they make it four wins from four having led by 27-9 in the opening quarter.
France v Venezuela
France eased past Venzuela with a 96-56 victory in the early hours of the morning. Joffrey Lauvergne top scored with 17 points in a comfortable win with France improving to 3-1 following their opening defeat. A 30-9 final quarter sealed their third victory in style as Venezuela were unable to match their European opponents with Gregory Echenique leading the tame resistance with 12 points.
