England Under-16’s recovered from their first defeat on Saturday by claiming a convincing 61-36 win over Scotland at the European Championships in Sofia, Bulgaria, on Monday evening.
Alan Keane’s side are now 3-1 in their group and will advance to the quarter-finals with victory against Macedonia in their final game on Tuesday.
Richard Amaefule top scored with 12 points, while Kareem Queeley added 11 points and seven rebounds in a balanced scoring effort with minutes spread throughout the roster.
England led 20-14 after the opening period before stretching further away by holding Scotland to just seven points in the second as they went into half-time, up 40-21.
The gap continued to be extended in the third quarter as England established a 52-30 advantage ahead of the final 10 minutes, which proved to be a low-scoring affair with a combined 15 points.
England held their opponents to below 20% shooting from the field with their Jordan Ferguson and Harry Morrice each scoring eight points for Scotland.
England U16s take on Macedonia in their final Group B encounter at 2pm UK time.
