Orlan Jackman Joins Newcastle Eagles for 2016-17 Season

Orlan Jackman has made the switch to Tyneside for the 2016-17 season after joining Newcastle Eagles, the club announced today.

The London-born forward played for Worcester Wolves in the second part of last season and averaged 10.6 points and 5.9 rebounds per game in 20 league appearances.

Jackman has also played for the London Lions in the BBL as well as spells in Germany and Portugal and becomes the Eagles’ second summer signing after they re-signed last season’s league MVP, Rahmon Fletcher, on a new one-year deal.

Eagles’ managing director Paul Blake revealed that Jackman had been a long-term target for the club, and was pleased to finally secure his services.

“We are really pleased to be signing a young British talent,” he said. “We have been talking to Orlan for a few seasons now and have finally got our man. We are really looking forward to seeing him in an Esh Group Eagles shirt.”

Jackman is the latest player to be snapped up by a BBL rival this summer with Andy Thomson swapping Eagles for Riders, and Worcester themselves signing Canadian guard Marek Klaasen from Leeds Force.

The 2016-17 league fixtures were announced yesterday with the league campaign starting on September 23 with Newcastle’s first game on the road at Cheshire Phoenix two days later.
