England under-18’s suffered their sixth straight defeat after losing 67-64 against Belgium to finish bottom of Group G at the European Championships in Konya.
Karl Brown’s side went into the half-time break ahead after Dwayne Lautier-Ogunleye’s late three point play made it 34-32 in England’s favour. However, they were unable to maintain their advantage with Belgium taking the lead at 42-41 and never looking back.
Jules Dang Akodo top scored with 14 points while Josh Steel also reached double figures with 10 points. Aaron Menzies pulled down 11 boards to accompany his four points while Lautier-Ogunleye added 8 points, 6 assists as well as 4 rebounds.
England can still finish as high as 9th in Division A but need to beat Montenegro tomorrow in order to avoid a relegation playoff against either Russia or Poland.
