England under-16’s preparation for next month’s European Championships continued with a valiant 87-70 defeat against Croatia on Thursday.
Alan Keane’s side battled throughout and outscored their superior opponents 21-19 in the final quarter. Carl Wheatle top scored with 21 points while Henri Langton added 10.
Head-coach Keane said: “There were lots of positives for us, winning two of the four quarters. As with every game we are moving forward towards the Europeans in August. Croatia are a big, strong outfit from Division A and we showed we can compete very well against them.”
The two teams meet again for their second and final clash tonight.
