CAPITAL MOVE FOR BBL MVP TAYLOR

Taylor 024Zaire Taylor has ended the speculation regarding his future by announcing his decision to join the London Lions next season.

The American is the reigning league and playoff final MVP after guiding Worcester Wolves to an historic double to add to his growing success in the BBL. In his first season, Taylor was part of Leicester Riders’ treble-winning squad and the 27-year-old will be determined to continue his winning tradition.

He confirmed the move to London on his website, saying: “I am delighted to be heading back to England. I love it over there and I am excited to be joining the Lions in the Copper Box next year.”

“It was a tough decision to make but I am really pleased to join the team in the capital. It was great to follow up my first season with the Trophy final win and the BBL Playoff victory”

The Lions were early contenders at the top last season and head-coach Vince Macaulay will hope the marquee signing of Taylor will enable the capital side to sustain a more lasting challenge.

Taylor had a memorable season with Worcester, averaging 19.1 points per game as well as a valuable 7.1 assists helping him earn the MVP honours. He produced some impressive performances throughout the campaign, most notably a 30-point haul in the playoff final whilst recording the rare feat of a triple-double against Glasgow in April.

Lions fans will undoubtedly be eager to see their new man in action and the countdown will officially begin in a few weeks time when the BBL releases the fixtures for next season.
