prunty_bb_backgroundFlo Larkai and Orlan Jackman have been cut from Great Britain’s team ahead of this week’s final two pre-EuroBasket friendlies with Spain.

With stand-by reserve Paul Guede also left out, it leaves GB head coach Joe Prunty with 14 players – and two more players to be released before his side travels to Slovenia.

Larkai is a major surprise, given GB’s lack of interior depth, but his ability to play five games in six days with a concern due to knee issues.

Jackman had only featured in limited minutes and was always a long shot in his first senior campaign.

“The guys have done an outstanding job for us from day one in camp,” Prunty said. “I appreciate the efforts made both on and off the court. All of us from the GB team thank them for everything they contributed and
wish them the best in their upcoming seasons.”

The GB staff will keenly observe the fitness of Andrew Lawrence and Alex Marcotullio before confirming their roster.

Larkai returns to re-join his Japanese side, Sendai 89ers, he said: “I am disappointed to be released but I leave a great group of guys and an excellent coaching staff. I have learnt a lot which I will take back to my pro club this season.”
