GB Squad Release First Player as Cuts Begin

Head coach Joe Prunty has made the first cut to the Great Britain squad by releasing Leicester Riders forward Jamell Anderson.

The release of Anderson, a late addition to the squad after a two day Futures camp, brings the squad to 16 players as the team heads to Helsinki to play Finland.

“Jamell has had an excellent summer with the Standard Life GB senior team,” said Prunty. “He has come a long way from the GB Futures training session to his work now with the senior squad. The entire staff is proud of his work ethic and we are all confident that he has a bright future ahead of him.”

Worryingly, Dan Clark continues to battle for fitness, having not travelled with the team and instead is working on his rehabilitation in the UK.

Meanwhile, MVP’s Mark Woods is reporting Gareth Murray hasn’t travelled to Finland, remaining a reserve on standby in the UK.

GB will face Finland twice, today and tomorrow, with Thursday’s game being the official warm-up.
