Newcastle Eagles have agreed a new deal with reigning British Basketball League MVP Joe Chapman.
The 6’4″ Chicago-born guard signs on for a fourth successive season, fresh from leading the Tyneside outfit to a clean sweep of all four major trophies.
And it was a remarkable comeback year after Chapman bounced back from a 90% achilles tear suffered in February 2011, which left him out of action for six months.
“The club looked after me through a tough time with my achilles injury,â€Â Chapman said.
“I think I’ve still got a little way to go to get back to where I was and I wanted to put another strong season in with the Eagles. I’m looking forward to coming back in the new season 100% ready to go.’
Chapman joined the Eagles in 2009, and has since won 7 trophies in 3 seasons with the Newcastle side.
The Marquette graduate was second top scorer in the BBL last season, averaging 20.2 points per game.
