Great Britain Warm-Up Schedules Released

Luol Deng GB Basketball Schedule
British Basketball have today released a truly testing schedule for the Great Britain side in preparation for the London 2012 Olympics.

As previously reported, the camp will open June 11 in Houston, Texas, where they will face 2010 World Championship bronze medalists Lithuania, and Russia, who finished third at last year’s Eurobasket, before returning to Europe.

On July 7 they will take on Eurobasket runners up France, in France, and two days later head to Spain where they will take on the world number two side.

After their encounter with Spain, it is good news for home fans as they will play a double-header with the GB women, facing Portugal on back to back nights in Sheffield, before playing their first ever international encounter against Team USA in Manchester on July 19th at the MEN Arena.

Their schedule will be rounded off with a three team tournament in Belgium where they will play Tunisia and the home side on July 21 and 22.

Head coach, Chris Finch commented on the schedule announced today:

“We have a very busy preparation period this year with some tough opposition which will provide the best grounding for our side as they head to London.

“It is exciting that we will meet up with the GB women in Sheffield to play a double-header event and see the home fans again the following week when we meet the USA in Manchester. We hope that the home crowds will really get behind the guys and spur them on to some great competitive performances.”
