Drew Sullivan Signs With Leicester

Drew SullivanIn a surprise move, Great Britain captain Andrew Sullivan has signed with the BBL’s Leicester Riders.

Sullivan, who terminated his contract with Mersey Tigers just over a week ago after becoming increasingly frustrated with the troubled side, joins the Riders on a week to week contract, with a view to a permanent move.

The 6’8″ forward joins fellow GB international Flinder Boyd at the club, who Drew says, was instrumental in his signing:

“We had a casual conversation about what was going on at the Tigers and he was the one who spoke to people at Leicester and within two days of him speaking to them, they enquired about my availability.

“Short term, I’m looking to win games. I’ve got a record in the BBL for winning silverware which I don’t want coming to an end. That is my goal and hopefully that will be the team goal as well.”

Head coach Rob Paternostro is excited to have a player of Drew’s calibre on the team:

“When you get a guy with his skills and his resume, he instantly makes you better and immediately allows you to play different ways because he’s versatile and can play many different positions.”

Sullivan becomes the fourth GB player to be suiting up in the BBL this season; the aforementioned Boyd, along with Nate Reinking (Sheffield) and Devan Bailey (Mersey).
