LEWIS SAYS U20S STILL FAR FROM PERFECT

GB Under-20 coach Tim Lewis believes his side still has room for improvement despite extending its unbeaten streak to six with two victories over Denmark in Colchester.

In Sunday’s match-up, a strong second half proved key for Britain as they ran out 79-66 winners with Devon van Oostrum heading their charge with 23 points.

And on Monday, propelled by 38 points from Ryan Richards, the hosts inflicted a 70-58 defeat on the Danes.

“We’re pleased with how it’s going, but there’s still a lot of stuff to work on,” Lewis told the BB website.

“We’re still relatively backward in terms of contact time with the kids, but eight and nine point quarters against Denmark shows the resolve we have. We’ve done that two nights in a row now.

“It was a better performance from Ryan (Richards) in terms of his leadership and all round game tonight (Monday), and we’re going in the right direction – that’s the important thing.”

Lewis’ side now go into Wednesday and Thursday’s games against Belgium at Braintree looking to wrap up their warm-ups with a perfect record.

Women’s squad finalised

Great Britain U20 women’s coach Damian Jennings has confirmed his final squad ahead of Thursday’s Division A opener against Slovakia in Novo Sad, Serbia.

Despite injury concerns, Jennings has stucked with Harvard-bound Temi Fagbenle and Colgate’s Kathryn Taylor in his 12-strong line-up.

Squad: Rebecca Allison, Gemma Bullard, Renee Busch, Katrin Chiemeka, Ella Clark, Temi Fagbenle, Dee Hayward, Jess Hurd, Erin McGarrachan, Josephine Salmon, Kristie Sheils, and Kathryn Taylor.
