Check out the second entry from the top young prospect this country has seen in years; Devon Van Oostrum.

Wassup people,

It has been a while! After a good rest over Christmas and getting to see my family and friends again in Sheffield, I’ve been back on the grind.

The beginning of 2011 started slow due to a rupture in my quad that forced me to miss our first 4 games back. Even though we suffered a couple of losses we managed to finish top of the league with our Men’s Second Team, putting us in a great position for the second round/playoffs. This weekend the second round begins and the fight for promotion begins! My season with them is going well (he’s averaging 25 ppg-Ed) but if we don’t finish strong and win the league it’ll be an unsuccessful season for me. I can always do better, I just gotta stay consistent and keep the team focused on our goal as the point guard/leader.

As for the U18’s we’ve started the second round for the Basque league. The top 2 go through to the Spanish Championships and then there’s the top 32 teams in Spain battling it out for the chip. So it’s important we finish top of the Basque league so our group will be easier. Saying that we lost to the other dominant team EASO by 5 at their place (it’s basically a two horse race for that number 1 spot). If we want to finish first now we have to win by 6 on our home floor on the 13th of March. (yesterday Devon had a pretty healthy line of 30, 7, ,7 and 10!-Ed)

Off the court, I’m watching a lot of movies at the moment. Favourite movie has to be Napoleon Dynamite-if you haven’t seen it go check it out! If I’m not watching movies I’m either down at the spa relaxing from a tough week, playing some pool or poker with friends, or gaming on the Xbox-any challengers out there let me know!

The ACB team got unlucky with a couple of injuries, though minor, I got called up and have been training with them. My debut hasn’t come yet but I’m staying patient and when it comes I’ll be ready…

Until next time,

Devon
