GB Men’s Camp Opens-Final Training Roster Announced

Luol Deng Team GB

Luol Deng will be the centre peice of Team GB this summer

The GB Senior Men’s camp opens today, with further players from the initial roster missing (in addition to the ones that have already been reported to have pulled out!).

Guards Mike Lenzly and Jarrett Hart are the latest duo to be missing from the roster with no apparent injury problems. The Everton Tigers’ Olu Babalola is the newest addition alongst the GB Futures call ups, as he looks to fill the void for GB in the paint.

Chris Finch acknowledges the team is short-handed but wants to focus on working with what he has;

“It is unfortunate that we have suffered a number of high profile injuries, but we now need to concentrate on the players we have available, which is still a very talented group of individuals. I am really looking forward to the impact the younger guys can make, I have no doubt they have the ability to be very important to the team having worked with them during the GB Futures campaign.

“I know how disappointed both Joel and Ben are not to have made it this year, especially Ben, after committing to the GB Standard Life team earlier this year. We remain optimistic that he will make his debut in 2011.”

“Two other absentees are Robert Archibald and Mike Lenzly. Both Rob and Mike had long seasons with their clubs, so we are unfortunately going to have to do without them this summer. Although this is a blow, we have planned accordingly and brought in cover in those positions”
