Ben Gordon in Doubt For GB This Summer

Could Ben Gordon be out of GB's Eurobasket campaign as well?

I heard murmurs from GB sources a couple of weeks ago, but it was confirmed last night that Ben Gordon’s debut with GB in August is in doubt as it takes him longer than expected to recover from his ankle surgery at the end of the NBA season.

GB Performance Director Chris Spice, talking to BBC Sport, said;

“We’re talking to people at Detroit. He’s in doubt because of the injury, but there’s no doubt at all about his commitment. We’re hoping by Monday we’ll have a better picture.”

The loss of Gordon would be a devastating blow to GB, who are already short a number of others players due to various reasons ranging from family comittments, to injuries, to ‘personal reasons’.

Head Coach Chris Finch is expected to name his training squad this week.
