Rob Yanders is hoping to make the final Team GB cut

Journalist Rob Dugdale did a great feature on Glasgow Rocks guard Rob Yanders for the BBC this week. The naturalised British citizen originally from Milwaukee, talking about possibly playing for Team GB said;

“It’s just about me being able to adapt to the new environment, be a great team player, that’s what every organisation asks for, whoever they may be. It’s a huge enticement too, playing with players like Ben Gordon and Luol Deng. I definitely feel I’m what the team needs – I watched them play against Spain [when Great Britain ran the world champions close in Poland last September]. I’ve got a lot of years left in my tank.”

Team GB coach Chris Finch also seems excited at the prospect of having Yanders in the lineup;

“His pure point guard ability and leadership are unquestioned and we’re looking forward to seeing if he can bring those dimensions to the GB programme,” he said. “He’s a proven winner and we like that too.”
