GB Basketball Announce Sponsorship Deal with…Butlins?!
Butlins will provide entertainment at Team GB games in August
Butlins have signed a one year deal with British Basketball to be their official entertainment provider. The deal includes the provision of half time entertainment, a pre game DJ and MC as well as cheerleaders. Butlins have just launched a UK-wide search to find a troupe of cheerleaders to perform live at halftime of Team GB’s home Eurobasket Qualifiers in August.
Mike Godolphin, Head of Entertainment at Butlins, said;
“People may wonder how sponsoring British Basketball fits with Butlins but, as both are very family focused and we have basketball as part of our multi-sport offering on the Resorts, it’s a perfect match. I’m really proud to be providing live entertainment for the Game On 2010 series and guarantee the fans amazing, top quality entertainment during the breaks”
I wouldn’t go as far as calling it a perfect match, describing it more as ‘interesting’ in my own opinion, but will reserve judgment until I see what they put on in August. Furthermore, a huge company/brand like Butlins showing their support for British basketball and ideally promoting the team through their networks can only be seen as a good thing.
