Hosted by the UK’s leading basketball journalist Mark Woods, the MVP cast is released on a weekly basis interviewing key figures across the British basketball landscape.
A new show for the 2020-21 British Basketball League season, it is hosted by former player and coach Jay Marriott along with current Newcastle Eagles guard Drew Lasker. With regular guests, as well as round ups of the results and looking ahead to the next week of games, it’s a must-listen for any BBL fan.
Freshly launched in December 2020, The Sunday Night Breakdown does exactly what it says on the tin – breaking down the latest action from the British Basketball League with BBL commentator Daniel Routledge and former Newcastle Eagles assistant coach Dave Forrester.
This started as an interview show hosted by a Basketball England staff member, before they joined forces with Tony Garbelotto, one of the UK’s foremost basketball coaches. Tony G is focused on the coaching side of the game, interviewing legends, rising stars and current coaches from around British basketball.
Up to four co-hosts discuss the latest ongoings in the BBL on a regular basis – Pablo Cheeks, Adam, Josh Bett and Darren Paul – with the occasional guest.
The High Tea Hoops podcast positions itself as ‘a welcoming entry point for the casual fan’, providing interviews, game analysis, and cheeky segments, hosted by Americans Skylar Smith and Brian Bosché, lifelong basketball fans who will be relocating to the UK in 2021.
James Jeffrey and Mark Littlewood host a relatively new NBA and British Basketball focused podcast, mixing it up between both domestic and NBA news, giving a round up of latest news in the intro before bringing on a guest.
Currently only on Spotify, The Ballers Voice is aimed at aspiring young hoopers. Hosted by Tosin Oyelese and Justin Hitchman, both national league players, they discuss various topics in and around British basketball.
With a more Irish focus, host Mark Reynolds, a player himself who spent time playing in the UK, does get the occasional British guest on so it’s worth adding to your library to dip in and out of as and when you choose.
You will get a mixture of different sports in this feed, but notable because it is the only female focused British basketball podcast – The Caz and Daz Show. They cover global women’s basketball news with a focus on the WBBL and WNBL.
Hosted by Mo Hussein and Lukas Volskis, it is currently a YouTube only show where the two have done both guests along with rolled as a duo to discuss British basketball. Going for the ‘raw and uncut’ angle, they are aiming to broach topics others stay away from.
Hosted by Mo Hussein, The Hooper’s Voice podcast covers both British basketball and the NBA, mixing it up between guests as well as running solo pods.
YouTube only, hosted by Chris Hughes from Rebound NBL, there is a range of guests with a focus on the National Leagues – a competition that gets less shine under the spotlight.
A relatively new podcast with a focus around the Manchester Giants, young Marcel Abbott discusses the BBL and does pre and post game interviews with players.
A YouTube only ‘podcast’, hosted by Reece Williams in Worcester, launched during lockdown with interviews along with topical discussions.
During the BBL season, hosts Mark Mills and Chris Mayes have timely, topical conversations about key topics around the league, including match ups, big games, roster make up and more.
Relaunched during lockdown but has since gone inactive again, it is worth going through their archives for some legendary guests, interviewed by Tom Lane.
Hosted by NBL Division 1 player Chuck Duru and launched during 2020 lockdown, season 1 is complete and featured one-on-one interviews with current and former basketball players.
Another podcast launched during lockdown on YouTube only, it is hosted by coach Mike Darlow that focuses on ‘the hidden game’ with coaching guests to analyse actions in their past games. A unique angle.
A podcast dedicated to covering Myerscough Basketball Academy in Preston, England – one of the leading academies in the country. Features current players, alumni and staff interviews, as well as the latest news surrounding the Academy.
A Glasgow Rocks focused podcast, hosted by fan Grant Young, as he mixes it up between team focused current news along with interviews, plus some extras around British basketball in general.
The official Plymouth Raiders podcast, hosted by commentator Pablo Cheeks and coach Paul Nicholson as they talk all things Plymouth Raiders with exclusive content and a variety of special guests from past to present day including players and coaches.
The Bristol Flyers Podcast brings you exclusive news and discussions on all things Flyers and British Basketball. Hosted by Head of Communications Joel Osborne.
The Official Podcast of the Leicester Riders Basketball Club, the oldest professional basketball club in the UK, covering their BBL and WBBL teams plus feeder sides.
If British basketball podcasts don’t peak your interest and the NBA is more your thing, there are actually a lot more UK-based NBA podcasts than you’d think, so we won’t go into details on all of them.
