PAGE, FREDERICKS JOIN BE BOARD

Ex-internationalists Julie Page and Cedi Fredericks have joined the board of Basketball England.

The pair have been co-opted as directors of the troubled governing body for the next 12 months as it looks to emerge from a series of governance issues and concerns over its management.

Page was a hugely respected member of Great Britain’s Olympic team at London 2012 and gained vast experience overseas before retiring in 2013. She also came through FIBA’s transitional Time Out programme and is currently working at Manchester’s Bridge College as the Sports and Community Programmes Manager.

“I hope to be able to positively influence the women and girls’ journey, of which we have already travelled such a fantastic distance since I was young,” she said. “It’s a very exciting time to be a part of Basketball England, I’m looking forward to bringing my knowledge, experience and passion to the table.

Frederick enjoyed a 17-year playing career which included winning titles with Crystal Palace and representing England before going into coaching.

He has worked in a number of non-profits and is presently owner and Managing Director of Article Consulting Ltd, owner and CEO of La Nova Group and an accredited Life Coach.

He said: “I hope that my 35-year involvement in this wonderful game as a player, coach, administrator and fan, when combined with my business and Board level experience, enables me to make a positive contribution to the organisation and the game.”

Also added to the board is Benny Bonsu who, according to a Basketball England press release, is a “community activist” and “leader in education”.
