Cameron Hildreth split a pair of free throws with 5 seconds remaining to give the Great Britain Under-16s a 53-52 win over Portugal at the Division B European Championship in Sarajevo on Monday night.
After Portugal’s Andre Cruz hit a tough reverse lay up to tie the game at 52 with 15 seconds left, Hildreth got the ball out of a timeout and drove left to draw a foul. He knocked down the first to give GB the lead, before missing the second, as Veron Eze got a hand to it to delay Portugal’s possession before time expired and the celebrations began.
