Great Britain Under-16s picked up their second win at the European Championships after beating Luxembourg 89-37 in Sarajevo, on Saturday.

James Vear’s side move to 2-1 in group play to boost their chances of a top-two finish to advance to the quarter-finals.

“We did a great job of bouncing back from yesterday’s defeat,” Head Coach James Vear commented.

“We had really good energy from the start and everyone contributed which is always a positive.

“Now we have a day off, so we can rest, refocus and prepare for Portugal.”

Meanwhile, Matt Marsh, Victor Faroukou and Joshua Uduje all added 12 points apiece with five players in double figures in the win.

GB set the tone with a 16-0 opening and led 27-9 by the end of the quarter. The second quarter proved to be the most competitive as GB only narrowly increased their lead to go into half-time up 43-22.

However, they stretched further clear in the second half with a dominant display at both ends as they went on record a 52-point victory with just 15 points allowed in the final 20 minutes.

GB held their opponents to less than 25% shooting from the floor overall, whilst winning the battle on the boards 72-38 including 29 offensive rebounds helping result in 37 second chance points.

Following a rest day on Sunday, GB U16s return to action on Monday when they take on Portugal – who also have a 2-1 record in Group A.
